Why must we have layers. As we clothe ourselves in the layers of our identity, we walk with the weight of each layer as we decide that's who we are today ... and we still have the layer of who we were yesterday, and last year.
How are we to shed the layers of brokenness, grief, sadness, anger, what can we do to find what layer is holding that emotion. Like sands that shift with the tides, hiding the footsteps of the previous hours washing away the evidence of what was there before. Except sometimes it's still there ... hidden in a layer of regret, or stuck in a time loop that repeats in our brain.
How do we shift that which is layered upon us so we can set ourselves free?
Is it to chip away from the outside revealing a piece at a time, or do we dive into the centre of our soul and like a bombshell blow up all the layers at once, allowing the original place of us - our bare shell to be exposed? Is that what realisation is? To meet ourselves at the edge where it's unknown - raw - unseen - by the outside world?
What then? Do we become free of all the layers of expectation, all the dross and heaviness of this world ... can it be true? Can it happen? Is hope real? Is faith real?
Is love real? or are they layers to give us comfort and safety
or are they programmes to help us navigate the game of life
Whatever you believe is true for you
Who are you?
Who are you as the unlayered soul
Who are you at the edge?
